Log my Care is one of the fastest-growing Care Software start-ups in the UK, having quadrupled its customer base since 2020. Our mission is to digitise the social care sector (care homes and home care agencies) and help hundreds of thousands of carers to provide a better quality of care to the UK’s most vulnerable people. The role

We're looking for a passionate and customer-centric Back-end Engineer to join our ambitious team. Reporting to Mikael our Tech Lead, you’ll be working on a variety of projects within our Care Management solution. Your role will involve performance optimisation, contributing to features that drive real impact and raising the bar for production readiness through testing practices and a strategic approach to non-functional requirements like observability.

💰 Salary Range: €60K - €75K per annum (based on experience)

As a Senior Back-end Engineer, you will:

• Develop scalable backend systems: Design and maintain high-performance backend systems for a variety of projects, with a focus on ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency in both new and existing systems.
• Design APIs and services: Design and implement robust APIs and backend services, optimised for speed and capable of handling high-volume transactions.
• Work within a cross-functional team: Collaborate closely with other engineers, designers, and product stakeholders to define, build, and improve features.
• Implement security best practices: Ensure data protection and system integrity by following and enforcing security best practices.
• Promote code quality and testing standards: Contribute to improving code quality by writing clean, maintainable code and advocating for robust testing strategies.
• Document your work: Use modern tools to write clear, concise documentation for APIs, system designs, and processes, ensuring maintainability and ease of collaboration.
• Lead backend projects: Take ownership of backend projects, including technical decision-making.
• Shape backend strategy: Contribute to the long-term technical strategy for backend systems, ensuring scalability for future growth.
• Set team standards: Drive the adoption of best practices across the team, including peer reviews, documentation, and system architecture planning.
• Support and mentor more junior developers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.

• You’re passionate about designing and improving systems, with a track record of developing high-performance backend solutions for both new and existing projects.
• You have expertise in backend development, with a strong grasp of languages like Typescript/Node.js.
• You’re experienced in designing and implementing scalable architectures for high-demand applications.
• You have a strong understanding of cloud services and are skilled at deploying scalable applications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• You thrive in collaborative environments and excel at working with cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion.
• You’re passionate about the impact of technology in health and social care and excited about how digital solutions can improve care delivery and outcomes.
• You can mentor junior developers and lead technical discussions.
• You have advanced knowledge of cloud architecture, cost optimisation, and scalability in production environments.
• Ability to anticipate technical challenges and proactively implement solutions.

Your Experience: 

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with significant exposure to leading large-scale projects.
• Expertise in architecting and implementing scalable, resilient, and mission-critical systems in production.
• Advanced proficiency with multiple backend frameworks and the ability to evaluate new tools and technologies.
• In-depth experience in database performance tuning distributed systems, and caching strategies. Specifically, MongoDB/Redis.

3. Interview with Mihai + Alexandru our Front-end Engineers via Zoom (1 hour)
4. A pair-programming task with Adam our CTO and Mikael our Tech Lead (1 hour)
5. Final interview with Sam (Co-founder & CEO) to discuss what you might bring to the role and how you might embody our values at LmC (20 minutes).
